We are a
young Spanish couple joint together by our passion: tasting the world from our
bikes. The fact that we come from different fields (Ainhoa is a historian specialized
in the Far East; Gabriel a gardener and an expert in Botany) makes us fully
enjoy our surrounding, regardless of it being produced by human craft or being
a piece of the art of nature. We have felt this way every single time we had
the chance to fly over the road on our bikes, to feel our wheels stroking the
nude earth, or to climb mountains that were never too high, rocky or steep, as
to make us get off the bike (unless that was to push it instead of riding it).
Cochin China
was the further name of Vietnam. Even though, in Spanish, being in the Cochin China
has the meaning of “to be miles away; to be on the other side of the World”. We
do want to go to Cochin China by bike with both senses: our goal is to travel
until the Pacific Ocean, but we can do it freely. Last summer, we accomplished
a five week trip around Japan, on which we have absolutely everything under
control: we planned each route, each road and each campsite. However, sometimes
we could not enjoy the experience because we were too linked to our plan.
Now, we have
an ambitious travel and we know we can’t plan everything. We will have to deal
with wars, visa-problems, bad weather and unknown territories, so we will
change the plan depending on these items.
In any case,
we are planning a trip of a whole year, starting on February 2014, and covering
about 20.000 km. We do it because we love bikes of course, but also because we
think we cannot spend, waist, our lives working. We need to live, to be one
with Nature, to contact with other cultures, and if we have this opportunity,
we must share it with everybody!
